Most people are familiar with type-1 diabetes and type-2 diabetes, but did you know researchers have discovered a third type of diabetes? Type-3 diabetes, as they are calling it, affects people who are extra sensitive to electrical devices that emit “dirty” electricity.
Type-3 diabetics actually experience spikes in blood sugar and an increased heart rate when exposed to electrical pollution (”electropollution”) from things like computers, televisions, cordless and mobile phones, and even compact fluorescent light bulbs.
Dr. Magda Havas, a PhD from Trent University in Canada, recently published the results of a study she conducted on the relationship between electromagnetic fields and diabetes in Electromagnetic Biology and Medicine. In it, she explains how she and her team came to discover this about why electropollution is so dangerous for many people.
Blood sugar goes haywire
One of the most interesting finding in her study was that electro-sensitive people whose blood sugar decreases when they go for a walk outdoors actually experience an increase in blood sugar when walking on a treadmill.
Treadmills, you see, are electrical devices that emit electrical pollution. But interestingly, even the physical exertion of walking on the treadmill did not make up for the blood sugar spiking effect of the EMFs emitted by the treadmills. Despite the exercise, in other words, type-3 diabetics experienced significant spikes in blood sugar when walking on the treadmill.
Dirty electricity is bad for everyone, but it is especially bad for people who are type-3 diabetics. And Dr. Havas explains in her study that even having an electrical device plugged into the wall near someone who is type-3 diabetic can cause them problems.
We have to rethink environmental influences of modern living
I find this research fascinating, not only because it proves that electromagnetic waves impact blood sugar and heart rate, but because there could be thousands, if not millions, of diabetics who may be suffering from a diabetes misdiagnosis right now.
The reason I’m bringing this up is because a 54 year-old pre-diabetic man who participated in the study was found to experience serious blood sugar spikes only when he was working in an urban environment around power lines or on his computer. When he was out camping away from the city, his blood sugar was just fine.
The man tested his blood sugar every morning in different situations and his levels were always higher when electrical fields were nearby. On one of the mornings, he forgot to test himself prior to beginning work on the computer. His blood sugar levels were higher than normal, registering around 205 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). But after stepping away from the computer for only ten minutes, his levels dropped nearly 20 mg/dL.
The degree to which electromagnetic pollution affects the body is clearly quite astonishing, and this study illustrates that. But it makes you wonder how many people have diabetes simply because of EMF pollution (and not solely due to their diet or lack of exercise, as we have been taught).
High EMFs gave this woman diabetes
Take the case of the 80 year-old woman whose house tested high for EMF pollution. Prior to installing a system of filters around her house designed to reduce “electro-smog” levels, her blood sugar was high and she was using insulin each day in order to balance her blood sugar levels. After installing the filters (which reduced EMF pollution by roughly 98 percent), the woman’s blood sugar levels dropped by 33 percent and her insulin requirements plunged a whopping 75 percent!
This idea that reducing the electropollution of your house could drastically reduce a patient’s need for insulin has never even registered in conventional (mainstream) medicine. Yet it could be a crucial understanding for tens of millions of diabetics around the world.
The study mentioned here classifies the type of diabetes caused by electromagnetic pollution as type-3 diabetes. While those with type-1 or type-2 diabetes can also have type-3, the data seems to indicate that a person can also exclusively have type-3 without any overlay of the other two types. In other words, their diabetes may be solely due to electromagnetic pollution.
And since pre-diabetics can be pushed over the edge by EMF pollution, there is no telling how many people actually have type-3 rather than type-2 diabetes.
If you ask most mainstream medical “professionals”, they will deny that type-3 diabetes even exists. According to most of them, the idea that electromagnetic pollution contributes to disease is some sort of whacked out conspiracy theory. But there’s more to the study that you need to know…
Wireless signals interfere with the heart
For one portion of the study, Dr. Havas had patients lie down on a bed with a cordless phone placed two feet away from their heads. The phone was plugged into the wall, but for each testing session, the electricity was either on or off.
Neither the patient nor the doctor administering the test was aware of whether or not the phone was live or dead during each session. (This is what is known as a double-blind study, the type most respected in clinical trials).
At the completion of that part of the study, researchers observed that EMF-sensitive patients experienced significant increases in their heart rates during the sessions when the phone was being powered and emitting radio signals. When it was turned off, these same patients returned back to their normal heart rates almost instantaneously.
Why is this important? First of all, a double-blind study is the litmus test used in the medical profession to verify that a study is legitimate. Since nobody involved knew when the power was on or off, the results are completely unbiased and hold a lot more sway than if it had been conducted a different way.
Secondly, it illustrates that EMF pollution really does speed up the heart rates of certain people. And since a rapid pulse is one of the many symptoms of diabetes, it seems reasonable to suspect that EMF pollution could be a fundamental cause of diabetic symptoms for a significant portion of the diabetic population.
This makes you wonder about the harm caused by mammograms, CT scans and other medical scanning technologies that blast the body with electromagnetic radiation, doesn’t it?
Electromagnetic radiation leads to many diseases, including cancer
Our bodies are constantly barraged by electromagnetic radiation from numerous electronic sources, and most people don’t think twice about this high level of exposure (probably because many don’t even realize it’s there), but the truth is that all this EMF pollution is leading to widespread illness.
Most of the recent research on EMF pollution has focused on cell phones, which makes sense because people take their cell phones with them everywhere they go and when they use them, they often hold them right next to their skulls. Cell phone radiation is probably one of the most dangerous EMF polluters because the devices remain in very close contact with the body for long periods of time.
A 2008 study published in New Scientist revealed that cell phone radiation causes human cell proteins to improperly express themselves. Similar studies also found that the radiation damages living DNA, creates leakages in the blood-brain barrier, and increases estrogen and adrenaline levels, disrupting hormone balance.
According to one statistic from a 2008 study, adults who use a cell phone over the course of a decade increase their chances of developing brain cancer by 40 percent. Even worse, a Swedish study found that people who start using a cell phone before the age of 20 increase their risk of developing a brain tumor by 500 percent!
Mainstream science holds conflicting views (as usual)
Of course, many in the medical establishment simply deny that electro-smog has anything to do with health or disease. And it doesn’t matter how many studies are conducted on the matter; many continue to insist that there is not enough evidence that EMFs cause any harm.
Not everyone feels this way, of course, but sadly most of today’s experts seem unable (or unwilling) to put two and two together and make the connection between electromagnetic pollution and disease.
There are many contributors to disease in our environment. EMFs represent just one. But to deny that electromagnetic pollution is harmful is quite narrow minded. Dr. Havas’ study provides more than enough evidence that at least some people are suffering because of the electrical devices that surround them.
Our world, of course, is full of electromagnetic devices — and some of them may surprise you. A typical hair dryer, for example, emits an explosion of electromagnetic radiation that’s usually aimed right at the skull. Typical office environments shower employees with electropollution from fluorescent lighting, and even exercise gyms can subject visitors to a dense field of electromagnetic pollution (from all the electronic exercise machines).
It all gives credence to the idea of getting into nature more often, doesn’t it? If you’re sensitive to electropollution, the farther away you get from the city, the better you’ll feel. No wonder most people innately gravitate to such natural environments like forests, lakes and ocean beaches.
So, does all this research mean we should all get rid of our phones and computers and return to the pre-information age? You could always join an Amish community. They’re remarkably healthy, and part of that may be due to their lack of electropollution.
But for mainstream people, a more practical solution is to install some EMF filters around your home.
Some solutions for electromagnetic pollution
As mentioned in the study, home EMF filters are one of the best ways to reduce or eliminate the stray electrical signals that plague your house. These filters will capture electrical “noise” from things like televisions, computers and phones, and return it back into the line or into the ground. These can be connected to the outlets where these devices are plugged in.
Keeping Wi-Fi devices like cell phones and wireless routers away from your body as much as possible is another good idea. If you have a wireless router at home, place it away from areas where people sleep or spend a lot of time. Even having it just a few feet farther away can make a big difference in a reduction of the electropollution exposure from it.
When charging your cell phone, plug it in across the room from you. Especially at night when you are sleeping, it is best to turn off as many electrical devices as possible and to keep them away from your bed when sleeping. And beware of electric blankets: They produce a very strong electromagnetic field.
Try to use the speakerphone as much as possible when talking on the phone, or use an “air-tube” device that stops the signal short before it reaches your head. Never walk around with an idle bluetooth attached to your head, because these devices deliver a steady stream of EMF radiation directly into your head. I would recommend not using one at all, but if you do use one, take it off when not in use.
It’s also a good idea to keep your phone in your pocket or purse only when necessary, and to keep it away from your body at all other times. Cell phones are intermittently communicating with network towers, so the closer they are to our bodies, the more radiation we are exposed to. So if you’re not going to be using it for a while, just turn it off.
Finally, it is crucial to maintain a healthy diet and get plenty of outdoor exercise. Eating lots of nutrient-rich foods, drinking plenty of clean water, and minimizing intake of toxic preservatives, food additives, and refined sugars will do wonders to build a strong and vibrant neurological system that will resist some of the impact of electromagnetic pollution.
The reason I mention outdoor exercise is because, just like in the study, certain indoor exercise equipment like treadmills can actually cause more harm than good (for certain people). So go outside and take a walk or a jog. The sunshine will boost your vitamin D levels and the fresh air will help rejuvenate your system. (Just be sure to stay away from the power lines.)

The breaking news is that Fosamax, the popular drug for supposed bone strength, may cause “spontaneous fractures.” That means you could end up like Sandy Potter, 59, of Queens, New York on ABC News who claims she was in excruciating pain when she broke her femur due to jumping rope. Who knew?
Well, the signs were there: hidden in plain sight. “Fractures” are listed right on the package insert as a side effect, or in Merck’s words, “Low energy femoral shaft and subtrochanteric fractures.” Yeah, we all know what that means.
“We are seeing people just walking, walking down the steps, patients who are doing low-energy exercise,” said Dr. Kenneth Egol, professor of orthopedic surgery at NYU Langone Medical Center. “Very unusual, the femur is one of the strongest bones in the body.”
Egol adds that some of his patient’s X-rays from a minimal fall look more like they came from a car accident and he’s seeing this more frequently.
In my book, Nature’s Secret Messages: Hidden in Plain Sight, I write about “prescriptions for trouble.” Here are facts that require careful consideration before or when taking medications.
1. As Fosamax shows, we don’t know the long-term effects of drugs.
It took 30 to 40 years before we could see the link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer. Doctors used to endorse cigarettes, along with some “miracle” drugs that were later discovered to be dangerous and even deadly.
2. Side effects could be confused as a symptom.
An article published in April 2009 in USA Today called “Drugs Cause Confusion in Elderly” stated that medications, both prescribed and over the counter, could impair the elderly. A patient could actually be given a wrong diagnosis because doctors don’t always recognize the symptoms as a side effect of a drug.
3. Combining meds may lead to a combination of problems.
Researchers have done very little testing on the effects of combining a variety of drugs and the serious complications — even death — that may follow. You can probably name several celebrities who died as a result of combining painkillers, antidepressants, and sleeping pills. But how often do you hear about celebrities overdosing on herbs?
4. Studies can be unreliable.
The New York Timess published a lengthy feature article in 2007 about the many ways in which clinical studies can be seriously flawed. In the words of Karl Menninger, M.D.: “One of the most untruthful things possible, you know, is a collection of facts, because they can be made to appear so many different ways.”
5. What about the side effects to the planet?
The more drugs we take, the more drugs our bodies excrete in waste, and the more they make their way into sewers and eventually into the environment. Research2 suggests that some of these drugs (as well as toxic substances in cleaning materials, shampoos, cosmetics and other personal-care products) can harm fish and other animals living in our waterways, which in turn can affect us.
Too often, our default is to pop a pill instead of trying a natural remedy first — even though certain foods and herbs are quite often just as effective as drugs (if not more so) and may not have the nasty side effects.
A 50 year-old colleague took a bone scan for the last four years and her doctor was shocked to see that her bones were becoming stronger each year while she was growing older. Her secret? Was she on medications? No. Was she eating a lot of milk and cheese? No. She actually went off of all dairy products. She went on an internal cleanse, eliminated junk foods, and started eating nature’s foods. Make bones about it — when the body is nourished, active, and working well, it can have more energy to repair and rebuild itself.
I offer a bone growth supplement system on my web site because the company, Garden of Life, gives a “grow bone challenge” for stronger, healthier bones or they’ll give double your money back if you qualify! They make you this amazing offer because they’re so confident in the Grow Bone System’s ability to build bone density by using natural whole food minerals to create bone growth.3
Also consider using acupuncture, which originated in ancient China, and is now widely used in the West as well as chiropractic, massage, Qigong, Healing Touch and yoga. These all have side effects that activate the natural healing processes of the body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
Nature’s food and natural remedies can be powerful drugs — hidden in plain sight. You and your health care practitioner may want to consider nature’s four billion years of wisdom to help you in all areas of your life, and then decide if medication is truly needed.

Doctors and Nurses Love to Inject
by Mark Sircus
Parents around the world need to stop bringing their children in to pediatric doctors except for broken bones and stitches and such because the chances are high that these doctors will inflict serious harm on their young charges. The majority of pediatricians are mean and arrogant and they love their poisonous needles and take every opportunity to inject no matter what the condition is of their young patients. Certainly they don’t read the hundreds of published medical studies documenting vaccine failure and adverse effects, and dozens of books written by doctors, researchers, and independent investigators that reveal serious flaws in immunization theory and practice.
Children who get the flu vaccine are more at risk for hospitalization than their peers who do not get the vaccine, according to research that was presented on May 19, at the 105th International Conference of the American Thoracic Society in San Diego. But doctors and their nurses still love to inject. Their deeds will be remembered on judgment day since the human race is not able to stop them. Imagine how far civilization has to fall just to lay these people low and one gets a good idea not only of where we are going but where we need to go.
Murder or Bad Vaccine was the title of a chilling article from the September 2000 issue of Redbook magazine. In this startling feature, several fathers were accused of shaking their babies, when, in fact, a vaccine had caused a reaction that caused the children to have problems. In one such case, an anesthesiologist was convicted and is serving a jail sentence for killing his child even though many experts have shown that the brain hemorrhage suffered by his baby was the result of a “hot lot” of bad vaccine. But doctors and their nurses still love to inject.
Villagers of Shaikhpara at Gajol in Malda district stage protests today following the death of two infants who received DPT and BCG vaccines at the Sheikpara Sub-Health Centre in May of 2010. As people demonstrated in front of the hospital, the situation was brought under control by police intervention. Dr Srikanta Roy, CMO of Malda, however, denied any medical negligence. “One child died because of severe pneumonia while the other died because of high fever. Their deaths have nothing to do with the vaccines,” he said. “We have checked the vaccines. They are absolutely fine.” The District Magistrate is investigating.
Merck’s Gardasil vaccine causes death, collapse and chronic illness in young woman and girls, including a new, never-before described “disease” called Juvenile ALS, a fatal condition in which the nervous system is slowly destroyed while consciousness remains unimpaired.
These absolutely fine vaccines have been suspended in Australia for all children under the age of five. The suspension comes after 23 children in Western Australia were admitted to hospitals with convulsions after receiving flu injections. More than 250 children may have had adverse reactions to the vaccine, with symptoms including fever, vomiting and convulsions. The death of a two-year-old girl from Brisbane who had received the seasonal flu vaccine the day before finally prompted authorities to temporarily ban the seasonal flu vaccine. But doctors and their nurses still love to inject.
My daughter took her youngest son Chris to the pediatrician for a 1 yr check. Chris is a special needs child. At 6 months he was given vaccines and within 24 hours began having serious seizures. Friday, he came in with a fever, coughing and runny nose. The nurse by the pediatrician’s orders came in without asking, without signatures, and gave him a flu
shot, adding 5 other shots with it. As of this morning, Chris was dead.
Meanwhile U.S. health officials urged pediatricians in May to temporarily stop using one of two vaccines against a leading cause of diarrhea in babies, after discovering that doses of GlaxoSmithKline’s Rotarix were contaminated with bits of an apparently benign pig virus. 11 children allegedly given expired measles and hepatitis vaccines in Tabuk. Inspection teams found 200 doses of outdated vaccines at various health centers.
A search of Dr. Paul Offit’s RotaTeq from Merck, turned up 83 adverse events that resulted in death and include RotaTeq as one of the adminstered vaccines. Click HERE to see the reports. The Redbook magazine article goes on to expose an increasing trend of parents who were falsely accused of child abuse because their children were damaged by vaccine reactions which looked similar to shaken baby syndrome.
The Redbook article reports that between 11,000 and 12,000 reports are made per year about adverse reactions from vaccines. They also state that surveys have shown that these reactions are grossly underreported. Some of these studies indicate that only 1 in 10 to as few as 1 in 100 of all actual adverse vaccine reactions are reported. This means that as many as 1,200,000 adverse vaccine reactions may be occurring each year. But doctors and their nurses still love to inject.
Alan Philips, a lawyer very familiar with State vaccine laws, writes, “Health authorities credit vaccines for disease declines, and assure us of their safety and effectiveness. Yet these seemingly rock-solid assumptions are directly contradicted by government statistics, medical studies, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reports, and reputable research scientists from around the world. In fact, infectious diseases declined steadily for decades prior to vaccinations, U.S. doctors report thousands of serious vaccine reactions each year including hundreds of deaths and permanent disabilities, fully vaccinated populations have experienced epidemics, and researchers attribute dozens of chronic immunological and neurological conditions to mass immunization programs.” But doctors and their nurses still love to inject.
There is legislation pending in New York state to mandate HPV vaccine for all sixth grade girls (A0778) and allow all present and future vaccines and drugs for sexually transmitted diseases to be given to New York children without parental consent (S4779 and A6702). The legislation is being supported by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), among others. New York advocacy groups opposing the bill include My Kids, My Choice led by Rita Palma and New York Alliance for Vaccination Choice led by Lisa Rudley. NVIC s Director of State Advocacy, Dawn Richardson, has provided legislative action educational support to the groups.
The federal government (CDC) and the AAP want to ram these dangerous vaccines down parents’ throats and it really is too bad that we have nothing to ram down theirs in return. It is important to know and understand the name of the beast in this terrible game of poisoning our children in the name of the unholy science that surrounds the childhood immunization program.

We have often heard that certain products can slow down and/or reverse Biomarkers of Aging (Ageing).
“The good news is that, while you can’t turn back the calendar, you can do something to affect your biological age—the toll the years take on your body and your health.” Tufts University Health & Nutrition Letter (May 2006)
“Strength training is really the key to the Biomarkers program.” Tufts University Health & Nutrition Letter
What ARE the Biomarkers of Aging?
Biomarkers (Simon & Schuster, 1991) has stood the test of time impressively, says Tufts University Health & Nutrition Letter (May 2006). “While research has of course added to our knowledge about all 10 of thebiomarkers described in the book, the basic lessons still hold true today.”
For many years, aerobic exercise was thought to be practically synonymous with good health. Weight training or bodybuilding was considered mainly cosmetic. That changed with the publication of Biomarkers by William Evans, PhD, and Irwin H. Rosenberg, MD, professors of nutrition and medicine, respectively, at Tufts University. Strength training took its rightful place as an equal partner with aerobics. Moreover, strength training became the senior partner for taking the worry out of aging.
The book features landmark studies at the USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging (HNRCA) showing that people past middle age are able to gain muscle and increase strength by as much as 200%. What’s more, muscle and strength were found to be the key controllable physiological factors associated with aging. One 93-year-old study participant observed: “I feel as though I were 50 again…Pills won’t do for you what exercise does!”
The HNRCA was and is located at Tufts University. Evans was the Chief of the Human Physiology Laboratory at the HNRCA; Rosenberg was the Director and subsequently became dean of Tufts’ Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy. Both have moved on to other posts. Quite appropriately, Tufts University Health & Nutrition Letter (May 2006) includes a Special Supplement assessing how well the 15-year-old program for controlling the aging process has stood the test of time.
“The bottom line of Biomarkers remains as true now as then,” they conclude: “Exercise is the key to a healthy and rewarding old age. Even for the frail elderly—and this is still a bold concept—a regular exercise program can have a strong positive health impact. A combination of regular aerobics, flexibility and strength training is the best strategy for retarding—even reversing—the effects of aging on the 10 biomarkers the authors identify.”
The 10 Biomarkers
To paraphrase Satchel Paige, the ageless baseball pitcher, biomarkers are those things that tell how old you would be “if you didn’t know how old you was.” In Biomarkers, Evans and Rosenberg isolated the following signposts of vitality that can be altered for the better by changes in lifestyle:
- Lean Body (muscle) Mass
- Strength
- Basal Metabolic Rate
- Body Fat Percentage
- Aerobic Capacity
- Blood Pressure
- Insulin Sensitivity
- Cholesterol/HDL Ratio
- Bone Density
- Body Temperature Regulation
Significantly, all 10 biomarkers can be revived or improved through strength training.
To help people understand how strength training affects the biomarkers, the authors coined the term “sarcopenia” to describe an ailment that affects many old people and deprives them of their independence. “Sarco” refers to flesh, “penia” means a reduction in amount. So sarcopenia describes an overall weakening of the body caused by a change in body composition in favor of fat and at the expense of muscle.
Evan and Rosenberg say that the first biomarker, muscle mass, is responsible for the vitality of your whole physiological apparatus.
Muscle mass and strength, the second signpost, are our primary biomarkers. They’re the lead dominoes, so to speak. When they start to topple, the other biomarkers soon follow. On the other hand, when muscle mass and strength are maintained, the other indicia are likewise maintained. That is where strength training comes to our aid.
Aerobic exercise and diet are important, but strength training, according to the authors, is pivotal if you want to stay young longer.
Fifteen Years Later
“Since the publication of Biomarkers, subsequent research has continued to support [the authors’] basic premise,” says the Tufts Supplement. Exercise and diet are the keys to successful aging.
Let’s look at a few points of special interest highlighted in the Tufts Supplement.
First, the average middle-aged person may be inclined to focus on losing or maintaining bodyweight. That’s not good enough. Your target should be body composition, improving your ratio of muscle to fat. The key is to minimize “biologically inactive” fat tissue and maximize “biologically active” muscle mass.
“People with a greater ratio of muscle to fat enjoy a higher metabolism and don’t have to worry as much about gaining weight or about how much they eat—that active tissue burns more calories.”
Conventional wisdom that muscle mass and strength decline with age, accelerating after 45, is wrong. “If you use your muscles frequently, you can maintain their strength. But if you push your muscles to the limit of their capacity by exercise, you can actually increase their strength—no matter what your age… The fact is that you can regain muscle mass and strength, no matter your age or what shape you’re in now.”
One more key point regarding strength training, one often over looked: “To be effective, strength training must be progressive, or you won’t get full benefit; as the intensity of your activity increases, so will your strength.” In short, don’t rest on your laurels; keep trying to improve, slowly and carefully, but persistently.
As we say above, aerobic exercise is important, but strength training is central to staying young longer. In point of fact, strength training increases the effectiveness of aerobic exercise, especially for older athletes. Here’s why, as explained in the Tufts Supplement.
“While both young and older people benefit from regular aerobic exercise—the kind that makes you huff and puff—the positive changes in older people come almost entirely in the muscles’ ability to utilize oxygen (oxidative capacity), rather than in the heart or cardiovascular system.” That’s another reason why you need the added muscle mass which comes from strength training. “When you build muscle, you create more muscle cells to consume oxygen. The more demand for oxygen from your muscles, the greater your utilization of oxygen and your aerobic capacity.”
Flatten Your Health Span
The ultimate goal of controlling your biomarkers is to extend your years of good health and compress your years of decline. By making positive changes in your biomarkers through a combination of exercise, especially strength training, and eating right, you can “prolong vitality, postpone disability, and prevent the development of sarcopenia.” The latter is very important, according to the Tufts Supplement. The price of sarcopenia is “loss of balance, reduced mobility and the frailty so often seen in the elderly.” Making the right lifestyle changes early on can postpone—sometimes for decades—what Evans and Rosenberg call the Disability Zone. “You can greatly improve your odds of approaching the ideal: a health span that almost matches your life span.”
The first step is to understand the 10 biomarkers. I’ve been encouraging people to read Biomarkers since it was published. I hope this 15-year assessment will motivate those who haven’t read this landmark work to do so now, and those who read before to read it again.
Measurement & Validity
While some potential biomarkers might be theoretically very accurate, it may be impossible or unethical to obtain them. Accurately counting the number of remaining functional brain cells, for example, would result in the death of the individual being assessed. Measuring the ability of the individual to recover from some extreme stress like pain or cold would be unethical.
In order for a biomarker of aging to be useful, certain criteria need to be met. These criteria include the following:
- The rate at which the biomarker itself changes should reflect some measurable parameter that can be predicted at a later chronological age. For example, if the biomarker were rate of change in memory ability, it should be tied to a particular memory phenomenon that can be predicted at a known interval (e.g., one year) and can be measured (e.g., numbers recalled from a list after a few minutes of intervening activity).
- The biomarker should reflect some basic biological process (e.g., heart rate).
- The biomarker should not reflect disease (e.g., Alzheimer’s disease).
- The biomarker should be widely reproducible across similar species (e.g., all mammals).
- The biomarker should not cause harm to the individual being assessed.
- The biomarker should be reproducible and should be measurable in a relatively short time interval compared to the life span of the organism being assessed (e.g., days for fruit flies and months for humans).
A major problem in biomarker research is determining the validity of the biomarker. Validity of a biomarker means that it measures what it purports to measure, that is, rate of aging. Finding that a particular measure goes down in some predictable fashion as the organism ages does not mean that the measure reflects biological age. For example, skin wrinkles with advancing age, but skin wrinkling is almost entirely the result of exposure to sunlight and is exacerbated by smoking. Thus, skin wrinkling is a measure of exposure to environmental damage. Some individuals show little or no wrinkling because of lifestyle choices. Similarly, hair turns gray with advancing age. Some individuals are fully gray by their thirties while others show little gray at very advanced ages. While we all see graying hair as a symbol of age, graying hair is not a good predictor of remaining life. It is therefore not a good biomarker. Still other measures, like rings in the trunk of a tree, may be good chronometers (measures of the passage of time) but still not be good biomarkers (a ten-year-old tree of a short-lived species will have as many rings as a ten-year-old tree of a long-lived species).

Give your business a powerful competitive advantage which can shoot you up the search rankings and achieve more leads than your non-blogging competitors.
When suggesting a Blog to clients we usually get asked “What exactly is a blog?”, which gets followed by, “I don’t have time to play around with one of those” or “Where would I get the time and what would I write about?”
The first stop in deciding to create a company blog (after understanding exactly what it is of course) is to decide that it is a worthwhile strategy and that means understanding the WIIFM (what’s in it for me?). What’s the pay-off?
What Is A Blog?
Simply, it is just a tool that allows you to quickly and easily create and publish new content. Plus, it allows readers to leave feedback on that content and interact with the feedback from other readers.
We have talked about Web 2.0 in the past Newsletter articles which, incidently can be found on our Blog at X2 World Blog, and a Blog is a Web 2.0 strategy. The 2.0 is just about the ability to engage and interact with people, compared with the original web concept which was an online brochure…you have moved on haven’t you?
The Pay-Off
1. Google Search – Google, in fact all search engines, places more emphasis on websites that have a growing and relevant content. Therefore you have a better chance of getting more web visitors if you add more content to your website…that is what a blog does.

2. Create Better Relationships – People do business with people they know and trust. A blog is a great way to achieve those outcomes on the web. Let people get to know you and your company. Offer value and people will return regularly. Over time, more and more people will contact you and become a lead or prospect. Then you have a chance of doing business with them.
3. Increased Online Lead Generation – businesses that have a blog and regularly publish new content will generate more new business leads than businesses that don’t blog. But don’t take my word for it, the following research by HubSpot shows an 88% and 67% increase in new leads for company’s that have a Blog.

The good news is that the statistics show that lead generation is substantially higher for both B2C (business to consumer) and B2B (business to business) company’s, making it a universal best practice strategy for internet or web marketing.
4. Improved Search Engine Results – The search engines apply ratings to websites and they favour certain elements over others. If your website can have more of the favourable elements, then it stands a better chance of appearing on the coveted “Page 1 of Google”. A blog helps in 2 key areas:

That’s a massive benefit! A website that is rarely ever updated and has no new content being added gives no reason for any search engines to come back and index pages. Your competitors who do Blog will get an advantage in the search rankings.

Another big factor in search engine rankings is links from other websites and blogs to your website. As the above chart shows, businesses that blog get much higher results.
What’s The Point Again?
Marketing is a science. It is measurable and you can try things, find out what works, tweak, improve and do more of what gets results.
The charts above from HubSpot’s research provide compelling evidence that you should be thinking seriously about a Blog for your business. If you have one, then think about how you can improve it and get better results.
It should be integrated with your website so that it adds value to your web domain name and in some cases could be a standalone website.
Why not get in touch with us and find out how your marketing could be boosted by adding a Blog or improving your current Blog?
One of our professional digital marketing Partners would love to talk you through the process and identify how it would work for your particular business.

What are Adaptogens?
Adaptogens are natural substances found in a few rare plants and herbs that shield the body against the impact of stress – by balancing and harmonizing the body systems. Adaptogens are not in the food we normally eat, and must be added to the diet through supplementation. They are by definition natural, safe, and have no side effects.
How Can Adaptogens Make A Difference ?
A layman’s explanation comes from Dr. Stephen Fulder, best-selling author and authority on herbs:
“Health is dependent on the healthy functioning of the cells. Stress has an impact on the cellular level – depriving cells of their energy supply. When a cell cannot function properly, it becomes weak and damaged.
The body gradually breaks down as disease and aging processes begin. This is where adaptogens enter the picture in a remarkable way.
Adaptogens work at the cellular level, on every cell in the body at the same time. The body is allowed full
access to its energy potential and the cells remain healthy.

(Reprinted from NaturalNews)
University of Michigan (U-M) Comprehensive Cancer Center scientists say they’ve found a compound that could help prevent and potentially treat breast cancer. It’s not a drug or a new radiation treatment but a natural component of broccoli and broccoli sprouts. And it has the remarkable ability to target cancer stem cells – the specific cells responsible for fueling the growth of cancerous breast tumors.
The researchers tested the broccoli compound, known as sulforaphane, in animal studies as well as in breast cancer cell cultures in the lab. Their findings, which were recently published in the journal Clinical Cancer Research, showed sulforaphane not only targeted and killed cancer stem cells, but it also prevented any new malignancies from growing.
What makes this such an extraordinary breakthrough? Current chemotherapies don’t do anything to stop cancer stem cells. That’s why cancer can recur and spread after chemotherapy. So many researchers have long believed that to control cancer, you have to find a way to eliminate cancer stem cells — and now it appears sulforaphane does exactly that.
“Sulforaphane has been studied previously for its effects on cancer, but this study shows that its benefit is in inhibiting the breast cancer stem cells. This new insight suggests the potential of sulforaphane or broccoli extract to prevent or treat cancer by targeting the critical cancer stem cells,” study author Duxin Sun, Ph.D., associate professor of pharmaceutical sciences at the U-M College of Pharmacy and a researcher with the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center, said in a statement to the media.
For their study, the U-M researchers first worked with mice with breast cancer. They used several well-documented methods to assess the number of cancer stem cells in the animals’ breast tumors. Then the research team injected varying concentrations of sulforaphane extracted from broccoli into the mice.
The results? There was a dramatic decrease in the number of cancer stem cells after treatment with sulforaphane, but there was little effect on the normal cells. What’s more, the cancer cells from mice treated with sulforaphane were unable to generate new tumors.
Next, the scientists tested sulforaphane on human breast cancer cell cultures in the lab. Once again, they found the numbers of cancer stem cells plummeted after exposure to the broccoli compound.
“This research suggests a potential new treatment that could be combined with other compounds to target breast cancer stem cells. Developing treatments that effectively target the cancer stem cell population is essential for improving outcomes,” study co-author Max S. Wicha, M.D., Distinguished Professor of Oncology and director of the U-M Comprehensive Cancer Center, said in the press statement.
The scientists pointed out that concentrations of sulforaphane used in the study were higher than what can be normally achieved by eating broccoli or broccoli sprouts. However, previous research suggests the body can absorb high enough concentrations of sulforaphane from broccoli extract to impact cancer. Currently, the U-M research team is working to develop a method to extract and preserve sulforaphane. They are also planning a future clinical trial to test sulforaphane both as a prevention and treatment for breast cancer.
NaturalNews has previously reported on additional health benefits of broccoli. For example, broccoli sprouts have been found to potentially play a protective role in the prevention of gastric cancer by reducing colonization of the cancer and ulcer-linked bacteria Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) in the body (http://www.naturalnews.com/026018_s…).
Research by University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) scientists also found that sulforaphane in broccoli appears to protect against respiratory inflammation that causes asthma, allergic rhinitis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other conditions that make it hard to breathe (http://www.naturalnews.com/025771_b…).
Editor’s note: NaturalNews is opposed to the use of animals in medical experiments that expose them to harm. We present these findings in protest of the way in which they were acquired.
